Paul Sylvester announced as new HBA Ambassador

The Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA) are pleased to welcome Paul Sylvester, Content Director at Absolute Radio, as an ambassador of the organisation.

Paul is an advocate for hospital, health and wellbeing broadcasting and has supported the work of the HBA for many years.

Grant McNaughton, Chairman of HBA commented:

“It is a great pleasure to welcome Paul Sylvester as HBA Ambassador. From an early age, Paul has been dedicated to radio, his passion started in hospital radio, and continues to this day - supporting HBA's Conference and Awards for many years.

Paul brings a wealth of talent as HBA's Ambassador, in radio production, management and talent coaching. Paul is Content Director for Absolute Radio and was named Individual of the Year at the Radio Academy awards in October 2018.

A Fellow of the Radio Academy, Paul is committed to raising the awareness of hospital broadcasting, understands all aspects and challenges hospital radio faces.

Paul will be an asset to HBA and our aim to continue to increase awareness of the benefits of hospital, health and wellbeing radio.”

Paul adds:

“It’s a real honour to be asked to be an HBA ambassador. My career started at Scunthorpe Hospital Radio and I know first-hand the dedication, passion and energy of the volunteers across the UK. Hospital Radio plays a significant role in the recuperation of patients and helps them to feel connected in difficult times. I look forward to working with the HBA and helping in any way I can to support the incredible work that Hospital Radio does.”

The announcement was made as part of the Hospital Broadcasting Association's Annual Conference weekend, which this year is held virtually.

HBA is the umbrella organisation for member stations who provide a service to their local hospitals and wider communities that aid recovery and promote good health and wellbeing. HBA supports, informs, develops and represents its member stations by events such as its Annual Conference and National Hospital Radio Awards and offers guidance and support for broadcasters.
