Seminars & Visits

Want to know what plans are afoot for this year's conference? Of course, you do...

Trips to local radio stations including Roch Valley Radio, Radio Hospitals Blackburn, Chorley Hospital Radio and, Bolton FM. After our evening meal, we will have the HBA’s 50th Birthday Party with fun, cake, guests and the ultimate radio quiz!

Podcasting Seminar - Another way of reaching your listeners.

Some say that Podcasts are the radio of the future and it’s certainly another way of reaching listeners with content, on-demand when they want it. In this seminar, they’ll be tips and advice for creating the perfect podcast, the best way of delivering it to potential listeners, what works and, importantly, the pitfalls to avoid.

Absolute Radio’s Paul Sylvester has worked on podcast strategies for both Absolute Radio and, previously, Chrysalis Radio. The latter saw him create the blueprint for what is now LBC’s successful Podcasts.

Jo Russell is a presenter of Gem and co-founder of the Secret Recordings range of Podcasts, which includes the hugely successful I Secretly Recorded My Boyfriend, named one of Spotify’s best podcasts of 2018.

Volunteer Recruitment & Retention

Saeed Atcha will join us to discuss how best to attract volunteers to your organisation, and more importantly, how to keep them interested, motivated and feel pride in what they're doing for both themselves and your organisation.

Saeed is a former broadcaster for the Wireless Group, has run his own charity since leaving school, and was awarded an MBE for services to the youth of Greater Manchester.

He's a Deputy Lieutenant too. And he's only 22 years old!

5G - What is it and how could it benefit your station?

We all use mobile devices every minute of every day and many stations rely on them whilst broadcasting. Whether it's linked from sporting events, from the wards or audio from outside broadcasts.

This Seminar/Workshop will explore the future of 5G technology and why low latency and high speeds could give you the edge!

On Saturday we will have our exhibition area and new this year will be a demonstration room where some of our traders will be demonstrating their equipment.
