HBA Trustees - call for nominations

Nominations are now sought for two people to join the HBA Trustee Board. Elections will take place at the AGM in Bolton on 25th March, and nominations must be received by Saturday 25th February. Full details can be found on the AGM page.

Long Service Awards for Harrogate

Harrogate Hospital Radio recently celebrated a milestone with members who were recently presented with Long Service Certificates from the Hospital Broadcasting Association. Volunteers who have spent 10 or more years dedicating to ward visiting, studio maintenance or presenting are awarded by the HBA for their contribution to hospital radio.

Nominations for National Hospital Radio Awards 2017 Announced

The Hospital Broadcasting Association is pleased to announce the nominations for the National Hospital Radio Awards 2017. 

The HBA invited all its members to submit entries for the 11 categories.  The first round of judging has taken place and the stations that have been shortlisted are as follows.

Hospital Radio Ipswich's Christmas Cheer

For the third year running Hospital Radio Ipswich will be broadcasting live to the patients of The Ipswich Hospital this coming Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
On Christmas Day itself no less than seven hours of live programming complete with patients requests will be available. Tim Ward head of HRI production says “There are plenty of opportunities here for patients to escape any boredom or loneliness. With all the patient participation available we hope to keep everyone happy and entertained”.

Radio Tyneside celebrates 65th Anniversary

Thursday 6th October saw the 65th birthday of Radio Tyneside, the first ever broadcast back in 1951 being a football commentary from St James Park.

Abseiling on air at Hospital Radio Basingstoke

It was a wet Saturday morning in September when volunteers came along to the North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke to raise money for the North Hampshire Medical Fund, a charity based at the hospital, which raises money to buy important medical equipment. 

12 months earlier, the charity had held its first such event and HRB had been there to cover it.  Chairman Dave Warren had taken part, dressed as a chicken, and talked on the air as he abseiled down the wall of the hospital.
