HRI's Lewis Old Completes Abseil

One of the most youthful presenters on Hospital Radio Ipswich has completed a charity abseil from the top of The Ipswich Hospital Maternity Block. 
Lewis Old completed the decent in a little over three minutes to the cheering of his twenty or so supporters who were safely waiting on the ground to congratulate him. 

Nottingham Hospitals' Radio Celebrate 40 Years of the QMC

Nottingham Hospitals’ Radio (NHR) is celebrating 40 years of the QMC with a 40 hour live broadcast, to help raise funds for new studio equipment.
An award winning hospital radio station run entirely by volunteers NHR has put together a packed programme to celebrate 40 years of the QMC.

Hospital Radio Lynn joins KL.FM 96.7 for Local Radio Day

As part of Local Radio Day, Hospital Radio Lynn joined forces with local commercial radio station KL.FM 96.7 for a special night of requests and dedications on 26th May 2017. 11 of the station's volunteers visited the KL.FM studios for one night only to broadcast the nightly Requests and Dedications Show live, not only to the patients of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital but to all of the KL.FM listeners in West Norfolk, Wisbech and Fakenham. 

Radio Horton: Volunteers Week

Banbury's hospital radio station, Radio Horton first launched in July 1964 by local journalists, Ted Hanson MBE and Graham Wilton. The core principles of the station were built on volunteering, with the fundamental aim to provide light entertainment, reassurance and a friend at the bedside to patients in hospital by playing their favourite choices of music.

Hospital Radio's Big Broadcast is a roaring success

Richard Smith and his team hosted another very successful Big Broadcast over the May Bank Holiday weekend. Presented from his studios in Lancashire, the 48 hours contained special guests including Ruth Langsford, Andi Peters, Phil Tufnell, Larry Lamb and Debbie McGee, live music from singer Kiki DeVille and the Pendle Jazz Men (which proved very popular), a game of national radio bingo and plenty of requests collected by the participating stations.

Broadcasting with Royal Approval

Harrogate Hospital Radio will continue broadcasting “with Royal approval” for the next five years after retaining a prestigious regional community award.
The station, which celebrates is 40th anniversary later in the year, has again been presented with The Duke of York’s Community Initiative Award for the work it does within Harrogate District Hospital.

MP opens refurbished HWD studios

Batley and Spen MP Tracy Brabin encouraged people to tune into a radio service helping to make hospital stays more bearable when she opened its newly refurbished studio.
HWD Hospital Radio's main studio has had a major upgrade to make use of the latest broadcasting technology.

Record Breaking Weekend for Bay Trust Radio

After 40 hours of continuous broadcasting over Easter Weekend, the team at Bay Trust Radio completed their 40 Hour Weekend and were successful in raising an amazing £4000 for the charity.
The team of volunteers brought together local businesses, charities, the hospital community and the patients for a special Easter Weekend radio fundraiser, with reporters across the area and special programmes throughout. This included live reporters out and about including Morecambe, Kendal, Hayes Garden World in Ambleside and much more.

£1,000 Donation for Radio Cherwell

The Round Table Lodge of Oxfordshire has donated £500 to Oxford’s Hospital radio station, Radio Cherwell, with a further £500 donation made by the Lodge’s Senior Warden, Brother Alireza Vahdani.
Members of The Round Table Lodge of Oxfordshire discussed which charities in the county should benefit from a donation, and they chose to donate £500 to Radio Cherwell, after having heard about the work they do for the patients in Oxford’s Hospitals.

Sunshine Radio's not fooling around - they're online!

It may have been April Fool's day, but not for Sunshine Radio. April 1st was their first day broadcasting online, increasing their reach from patients of St. Mary’s to the rest of the island and even the world. Now broadcasting from 10am to 2am the following morning, their winning formula is set to shine on.
