Broadcasting with Royal Approval

Harrogate Hospital Radio will continue broadcasting “with Royal approval” for the next five years after retaining a prestigious regional community award.
 
The station, which celebrates is 40th anniversary later in the year, has again been presented with The Duke of York’s Community Initiative Award for the work it does within Harrogate District Hospital.
 

MP opens refurbished HWD studios

Batley and Spen MP Tracy Brabin encouraged people to tune into a radio service helping to make hospital stays more bearable when she opened its newly refurbished studio.
 
HWD Hospital Radio's main studio has had a major upgrade to make use of the latest broadcasting technology.
 

Record Breaking Weekend for Bay Trust Radio

After 40 hours of continuous broadcasting over Easter Weekend, the team at Bay Trust Radio completed their 40 Hour Weekend and were successful in raising an amazing £4000 for the charity.
 
The team of volunteers brought together local businesses, charities, the hospital community and the patients for a special Easter Weekend radio fundraiser, with reporters across the area and special programmes throughout. This included live reporters out and about including Morecambe, Kendal, Hayes Garden World in Ambleside and much more.
 

£1,000 Donation for Radio Cherwell

The Round Table Lodge of Oxfordshire has donated £500 to Oxford’s Hospital radio station, Radio Cherwell, with a further £500 donation made by the Lodge’s Senior Warden, Brother Alireza Vahdani.
 
Members of The Round Table Lodge of Oxfordshire discussed which charities in the county should benefit from a donation, and they chose to donate £500 to Radio Cherwell, after having heard about the work they do for the patients in Oxford’s Hospitals.
 

Sunshine Radio's not fooling around - they're online!

It may have been April Fool's day, but not for Sunshine Radio. April 1st was their first day broadcasting online, increasing their reach from patients of St. Mary’s to the rest of the island and even the world. Now broadcasting from 10am to 2am the following morning, their winning formula is set to shine on.

Patients in Newcastle and Gateshead hospitals are receiving some of the best entertainment in the country after ward broadcasting service Radio Tyneside was recognised as Station of the Year at a national ceremony.

Bridgend's Hospital Radio Ward Sing-a-long

The new and exciting Bridgend's Hospital Radio station have been out and about within the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend. 
 
Long term volunteers Sheila Hollin and Haydn Powell took their radio show to Ward 18 on Wednesday 12th of April entertaining and singing along with both patients and staff.
Bridgend's Hospital Radio is changing with the team growing to over 15 volunteers over the past few months.
 

HBS' ‘Weegie Wednesday’

Glasgow’s Hospital Broadcasting Service (HBS) has been recording occasional short-stories and plays for many years, but last year, a conversation in one of the city’s coffee shops between Programme Director Peggy Mack and local writer Jerry Brannigan set in motion what became known as the ‘Weegie Wednesday Short Story Competition’.

Descending Funds

A  popular presenter at Hospital Radio Ipswich will be bravely abseiling from the top of the Heath Road maternity block to raise funds.

Lewis Old intends to raise hundreds of pounds for The Woolverstone Wing  in the Hospital which specialises in treatment of cancer patients.

His epic effort will take place on the 28th May when he will be attempting a safe descent between 10 and 11am.
