Ofcom Invites Applications for Community Radio Licences

In September we advised that Ofcom published their plans for 2018/2019 for inviting applications for analogue FM community radio licences. We believe that this would be the final round of analogue licences offer by Ofcom in advance of the start of the small scale DAB licensing programme.

We're pleased to announce the venue of our 2019 Annual Conference and National Hospital Radio Awards will be the Best Western Plus, Stoke-On-Trent Moat House hotel. 

Hospital Radio Ipswich's Remembrance Sunday Programmes.

Hospital Radio Ipswich will be broadcasting special programmes on Remembrance Sunday.

To help to commemorate those who gave their lives in service for their country and mark the 100th anniversary since the official end of World War 1.

Starting at 10am we will present a new documentary produced especially for HRI, telling the story of the two World Wars with reference to Ipswich, local veterans who served their country and featuring memorable sounds from the conflicts that shaped our history.

Ofcom Response to Expressions Of Interest For Small-Scale DAB

Ofcom has published three maps and tables where parties have expressed an interest in running a small-scale DAB multiplex, radio service or both. They will be consulting on the licensing framework and the spectrum plan next year after the Government has put the necessary secondary legislation before parliament.

Radio Marsden have teamed up with specialist staff at the Royal Marsden on producing audio around pressure ulcers and how to recognise them.

Government Responds to the Small-Scale DAB Licencing Consultation

Today, 13th October, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport published it's response to the small scale DAB consultation that ran from January 4th to February 28th 2018. There was strong support for the government proposals and they intend to move forward to develop the secondary legislation. The HBA will be watching through the parliamentary process to ensure the voice of all hospital broadcasters are heard.

BHR Celebrates Charity of the Year Success

In June of 2017, Bridgend Hospital Radio were over the moon to discover that they had been selected as Sainsbury's Charity of the Year for the Bridgend store by the stores customers.

Bay Trust Radio Expands to Blackpool

A local charity which provides a radio station to patients in hospital is expanding the service they offer.

Kendal-based Bay Trust Radio, which is run entirely by volunteers, will become available in Blackpool for the first time.
