Bookings for the 2018 Annual Conference & Hospital Radio Awards NOW OPEN

Bookings are now open for the 2018 Annual Conference, including the National Hospital Radio Awards.

The event, which takes place at the De Vere Beaumont Estate in Windsor, runs from the 23rd to 25th March 2018. There are many packages available, including full weekend; Saturday arrival and Awards & Gala Dinner only packages. 

Hospital Radio Plymouth receive £1000 from local Freemasons

Every Spring and Autumn, Freemasons from all parts of Devon meet to give support, totalling in excess of £50,000 to local charities and organisations throughout the county who are in ineed of assistance.

Hospital Radio Plymouth were one of the groups nominated by their local lodge.

The money is raised by the "WAKE Fund", a trust conceived by the Right Worshipful Brother Williiam Alexander Kneel, the Provincial Grand Master from 1970 to 1984, the late owner of Kneels laundry & dry cleaners (now Johnsons).

Radio Warneford Back On Air

Radio Warneford, the hospital radio service based at Warwick Hospital, is finally back on the air and broadcasting to patients across South Warwickshire!

The station, based at Warwick Hospital and broadcasting to patients for 45 years, fell silent in December 2018 after the introduction of NHS Wi-Fi by the South Warwickshire Foundation Trust (SWFT) to replace their in-house Patient Wi-Fi service.

Radio Glamorgan Studio Renamed after Volunteer

The studio at Hospital Radio Glamorgan (RG) has thoughtfully been renamed in memory of a dedicated volunteer.

John Wilce, from Penarth, joined the station based at the University hospital of Wales in Cardiff in 2003 but sadly passed away after a short illness in September last year.

HBA Member Station, Bay Trust Radio have been honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK.

Radio Clatterbridge says Goodbye to Founding Member

Listeners and volunteers at Radio Clatterbridge have been saddened to learn of the death of one of the station’s founding members, the broadcaster Monty Lister. He was 92.

Radio Hillingdon share their Points of View on BBC One

Hospital Radio Hillingdon has made the bold leap from broadcasting to patients inside Hillingdon Hospital and listeners online to appearing on the TV screens of audiences nationwide this week. The station, its studios and four volunteers were all filmed as part of the latest episode of the BBC institution, Points Of View. 

Stoke Mandeville Hospital Radio to launch on FM

Stoke Mandeville Hospital Radio [SMHR] continues its landmark achievements and is becoming one of a handful of hospital radio stations to be granted an FM licence from Ofcom, which will see the station start broadcasting on 87.7 FM from 2pm on 24th May 2019.

The station having recently celebrated its 40t​h​ Birthday in December 2018 and strives to provide the best possible service to the patients and staff of the hospital.
