The Executive Committee are proposing a major restructuring of the Association. It is currently conducting a wholescale review of the services it provides to members and how they are provided. The EC has been assisted in its review by a consultant whose services were majority-funded by a grant from the Charities Aid Foundation (http://www.cafonline.org).
The first stage of the review was a standard CAF "Health Check" of the Association by the consultant. The consultant's recommendations have been accepted by the EC.
The consultant then facilitated a number of workshops: A workshop with the EC looking at the Association's strengths and weaknesses and its vision and mission statementsA workshop with the EC looking at possible management structuresA workshop member-station representatives; looking at their feelings about HBA, what and how services should be provided
The working party then took the outcome of these workshops and developed a Strategic Direction for the Association, which the EC approved at its meeting in July 2007.
The EC intends to propose a motion at the AGM on 20th October 2007 to approve the principle of restructuring the management of the Association.
The EC are currently running a consultation on the detailed proposals for the management restructuring and on the services provided by the Association. The closing date for responses is 8th November 2007. Whilst not wanting to pre-judge the outcome of the vote at the AGM, it is necessary for this consultation to be run at this time in order that new governing documents can be approved at the 2008 AGM.
